This may have been a change in the way Malwarebytes does business: obviously they would love it if everyone who downloaded the free version eventually paid them for the full version.so they've set it up to facilitate those transitions. From that, I can tell what you have (had? it sounds like you might have uninstalled it) is indeed the right software. I'm reposing a slightly edited version of the answer I sent you in response to your PM here, so folks who visit this thread in the future will see it. Meanwhile my dads does not ahve that (trial) on the side.

I know you might not see it in the image, but it does say (trial) on it. I will show a picture of how it looks, because I could use help. Although after this I could not get the fee version of it. Although I think they installed the malwarebytes rootkit thing called mbar, but it's not in my control panel progams to be uninstalled, so I don't even know if it functions. What is happening and how can I get the free version again? As a note Geeksquad did look at my computer a while back, this is when I had malwarebytes uninstalled, and when i got ti back it was working liek it was before, which was rather well. The box to uncheck start trial never showed up, and I followed the clicking the grey download on their sight as one of the fourm posts said. I uninstalled restarted my computer and tried again, and the same thing.

Although I realised now it might be helpful to have it once again, so I went to install the free version, and as I did what I usually would do, the Malwarebytes that was installed was the trial version. Curious I used to have the free version of malwarebytes and due to a reason I had it uninstalled.
